Jim’s bio:
Hello. My name is Jim Theologos. I’m a native New Yorker born in 1940 of Greek Italian parents. I lived in the “big apple” until 1973 when I moved to Costa Rica which is where I reside now.
From childhood I was captivated by art; museums were my playground. I discovered live art when I was 14 years old and have been working from live models ever since. In my early years I worked only in charcoal and pencil which enabled me to concentrate on drawing skills. I have always worked against the clock for discipline as it forces you to make decisions more quickly.
I studied in the Art Students League, and Pratt Institute and worked in many artist workshops. I have exhibited in the States, France, Belgium, Puerto Rico and extensively in Central America, especially in Costa Rica. Currently my preferred medias are dry pastel and oils. I have been teaching art for the last 30 years in my studio and have had the pleasure of watching many artists grow. My preferred subjects are the human body, exotic flowers, still life and landscapes — when you work in realism the world is your model.
How Does This Work?
The closing date for bids on Jim’s drawing is December 23rd, 2010.
When an item is up for auction, we will post the current highest bid from time-to-time (once every day or so). You can check What’s Happening? —> News to see that. If you want to make a bid, it must be a multiple of $10 and at least $10 higher than the currently posted bid. If more than one person submits the same, new, higher bid, the first one received will be selected (and the other person/people will be notified).

You can submit a bid by filling in a form online (click the icon at the left). When you “Submit” the form, an e-mail message is sent to a member of the LTG.
