This wonderful extravaganza has been adapted for the LTG stage by Andrew Gardener, and is a charming blend of The Birdcage and La Cage Aux Folles. Andrew, who also directs and plays the role of Albert, has added show-stopping musical numbers interspersed with the story to give a well rounded tale of two Jewish, middle aged gay men who run a night club in South Beach, Florida. Their son, the product of one night of romance with a straight woman, wants to marry the daughter of a moral and upstanding Senator. Fun and laughs ensue when the son, Val, tells Armand and Albert that the Senator and his family are coming to dinner to meet them and they have to act straight and Christian.

The costumes are as incredible as they are lovely. As Armand says in his opening lines, “Let us take you into a world of fantasy and entertainment, where boys may be boys and girls may be girls, or boys, but we will let you decide as you enter the world of The Birdcage, where some of the most beautiful women are men.”

Coming Soon!

Steel Magnolias will run all weekends in February.

Steel Magnolias is a 1989 American comedy-drama film about the bond among a group of women in northwest Louisiana. The movie is based on a 1987 off-Broadway play by Robert Harling, which in turn dealt with the playwright’s experience with the death of his sister. The title suggests the female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel.
